    Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders

One of my favourite movie? Paris, Texas!

For the heartbreaking images of the Texas desert, for the heartbreaking neon signs of the motels, for the heartbreaking music composed by RY COODER, for the outstanding performances by HARRY DEAN STANTON and NASTASSJA KINSKI, and for the wonderful performance from DEAN STOCKWELL.
Exactly 40 years ago the film directed by WIM WENDERS and written by SAM SHEPARD was presented at the 37th Cannes Film Festival and won the Palme d’Or.
Now, 40 years later a 4K restored version of the film, supported by Chanel, has been premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Palme d’Or.
Is four years a long time?

    Marcello Gandini Lancia Stratos

“La macchina da rally non ha bisogno di essere bella, ma se non avesse vinto sarebbe rimasto almeno il bello.” [cit.] MARCELLO GANDINI

Marcello Gandini was one the most famous, talented and visionary car designers. He was known for the masterpieces he created for Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo and Lancia.
For Lamborghini he designed some of the most beautiful, iconic and futuristic sports cars of the period, such as the Lamborghini Miura(1966), the Lamborghini Countach(1971) and the Lamborghini Diablo(1985).
Presented in 1966 at the Geneva Motor show, the Lamborghini Miura was the fastest road car of the period with his 3.9 12V engine, 350 HP, five speed and the first supercar with the engine at the mid-rear position behind the driver’s seat. The Miura became famous even for the detail of the beautiful black eyelashes around the headlights.

    aerodinamica-blog-josef-bayer

The first time I ever saw a pair of JOSEF BAYER’s wheels was summer 2012 at the Favorit Velodrome in Brno. They were a 3-spoke and a disc wheel. They were all black and aggressive looking, but they had a small green symbol on them, very speedy, very romantic. They made a strong impression on me and I asked the man responsible for the Velodrome about them.
He replied by telling me about a certain JOSEF BAYER, builder of fantastic rims from the south of Moravia, but beyond that he knew little. The more I thought about it the more I realised that I needed to find this Mr. JOSEF BAYER, even if nobody knew how to help me, nobody had an address or contact.

    Jane Birkin wearing a blazer

I’m so sad to hear that JANE BIRKIN, the iconic British model, actor and singer has gone.
She was an unforgettable icon, with a unique voice and a great charm, a complet artist, singer and actor.
She appeared in more then 70 films under some of France’s leading directors, including Bertrand Tavernier, Agnès Varda, Jean-Luc Godard, Alain Resnais and James Ivory.
I love her role in Blow-up, a film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, Palme d’Or in Cannes in 1967, together with Veruschka, another 1960’s iconic model and the wonderful music composed by Herbie Hancock.
She embodied freedom and elegance with her nonchalant style, in her cropped white T-shirt, flared jeans, men’s blazers. She was always so elegant and unique, a daily inspiration!
