BLAIZE FELBERBAUM 33, is an independent photographer, native and resident of Lausanne, Switzerland. A fanatic cyclist since the age of 12, when he began mountain biking, later discovering the joys of road racing, cycle touring, BMX track and finally the streets on his fixie. In 1999 he founded Vélocité, Lausanne’s first bicycle messenger service. There he accumulated the roles of director, messenger, dispatcher, mechanic, and later as the enterprise grew, graphic designer and photographer for the promotion of the services offered by Vélocité. This experience led him to documentary photography and the daily trials and joys of a bike messenger. In his spare time Blaize travels, on his bike of course, armed with the Holga and Rolleiflex he  began shootining with, in addition to the more recently adopted Pentax and Leica, continuing to collect and record images to the glory and heritage of cycling. In 2007 he endeavored to photograph the Velodromes around the Globe, beginning no further than his native city and the nearby UCI headquarters in Aigle, Switzerland. Fascinated by their history and architecture, he has undertaken a project to photograph and record the abandoned bicycle tracks around the world.

The initial work presented here concerns the Velodromes of northern Italy, including Torino, Molinella, Ferrara and Cavezzo. The next destination, planned for the next summer  will be Japan, with its rich past and present track history.

BRIKO was so fashion in the 90’s, the Raider was choosed by Marco Pantani during his epic 1998.

  • rue du petit-chêne

On the way back from Geneva, we stopped in Lausanne to drink a good beer and meet a good friend BLAIZE FELBERBAUM. I love Lausanne, small city with a very “chic” taste of frenchness and not at all swissness. For me Lausanne is not only ECAL or TAS, I remember Lausanne for the “À travers Lausanne” a race Contre le Montre, the Tuesday after the Tour. Was like a “red carpet” for the winner. The race was won by Fausto Coppi, Eddy Merckx(4x), Poulidor, Zoetemelk(5x) and in 1998 after a fantastic Tour, by Marco Pantani.

The Depart was in Quai d’Ouchy and the Arrivee, after 4km, in Sauvablin but the Rue du Petit-Chêne was a breakheart hill, 200m at 18% in pavé.(…)

    Brooklyn la gomma del ponte

On the 4th of August 1972, an official sponsoring agreement was signed between ALFREDO GIOS (Bici Gios Torino) and GIORGIO PERFETTI owner of the world famous chewing-gum brand “Brooklyn-la gomma del ponte“ giving birth for 5 years (1973-1977) to one of the most successful professional cycling teams ever existed: the “Brooklyn” team. The following year, Brooklyn decided to create and sponsor a new top level professional cycling team and considering the excellent personal and business relationship existing between ALFREDO GIOS and GIORGIO PERFETTI, the company GIOS was called to be the technical supplier delivering the racing bicycles to the whole team. Based on Italy the team had a mixed roster of Italians, like PANIZZA, ROTA, PASSUELLO, TURRINI and Belgians like DE MUYNCK, SERCU or DE WITTE. But one name above all: ROGER DE VLAEMINCK, winner of Milano-Sanremo, Paris-Roubaix(4), Ronde van Vlaanderen, Giro di Lombardia, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Freccia Vallone, Paris-Brussels, Milano-Torino, Züri-Metzgete, Tirreno-Adriatico, Tour de Suisse, etc.etc. Art director of the company was DANIELE OPPI who created the name for the „Lambretta“, the brand „Chicco“ and the „Pic Indolor“.

Brooklyn cap is one of the 2010 collection „Vintage“ including 7Eleven-Bianchi-Bic-Brooklyn-Clement-Jolly-Mercatone uno-Mercier-Molteni-Panasonic-Pdm-Reynolds-Renault-Salvarani-Scic-Z-Vetements. One size, 100% cotton, 100% made in Italy. Info & orders: welcome [at] aerodinamica.ch
