rue du petit-chêne
On the way back from Geneva, we stopped in Lausanne to drink a good beer and meet a good friend BLAIZE FELBERBAUM. I love Lausanne, small city with a very “chic” taste of frenchness and not at all swissness. For me Lausanne is not only ECAL or TAS, I remember Lausanne for the “À travers Lausanne” a race Contre le Montre, the Tuesday after the Tour. Was like a “red carpet” for the winner. The race was won by Fausto Coppi, Eddy Merckx(4x), Poulidor, Zoetemelk(5x) and in 1998 after a fantastic Tour, by Marco Pantani.
The Depart was in Quai d’Ouchy and the Arrivee, after 4km, in Sauvablin but the Rue du Petit-Chêne was a breakheart hill, 200m at 18% in pavé.(…)

les enchaînés
Today I was visiting Geneva and stopped by “Les Enchaînés” VALENTIN DUFOUR new store. He moved from Chambesy end of the year and opened his first atelier behind the Rail Station. I am really happy to have Cinelli offered in Geneva through him. So if you are in Geneva please stop at rue de la Faucille 7 and say hello.

Saturday, January 21, 1978
Cabbed over to Studio 54, and then when we got there, the place was packed. Ken Norton was there. It was jumping for a snowy night, Steve couldn’t believe that so many people came out in the blizzard for it, he was turning away people at the door as usual. Then we wanted to go down to a place called Christy’s Restaurant on West 11th Street where there was a Saturday Night Live party for Steve Martin. We went outside to try to get a cab but we couldn’t. Then along came a white guy and a black girl in a car who offered us a ride anywhere we wanted to go, and we took it.. They said that Steve wouldn’t let them in to Studio 54 because they didn’t look right, but they looked okay for me-I mean, he looked like a fairy and she looked like a drag queen, it was the Studio 54 look. As we were going along Catherine looked out the window and said wasn’t that Lou Reed on the street, and it was. He was with a Chinese chick, and they got in and he was friendly. When we got to Christy’s, Steve Martin was great, he seemed thrilled to meet me.

cinelli XCR criterium racer
Cinelli because of its privileged position as Columbus’ factory neighbour was amongst the first in the world to use XCR, Columbus’ seamless stainless steel tubeset, and gain an expertise with it. Columbus XCR is the world’s most high performing tubeset. The costs and risks (the raw material has an extremely elevated price and the superior cold-drawn process Columbus favours makes risk of material waste very high) of manufacturing this mean that only a limited amount of the tubesets are produced, relative to the heavy request. This explains the extremely exclusive nature (30 pieces for 2011) of this new interpretation of the classic Cinelli XCR frame produced in collaboration with Rapha.
This new model is specifically designed for the rigours of criterium racing. Extremely stiff, resistant material and tight geometries favouring reactive handling and high-cornering load geometries.
The style is, of course, classic Rapha, with just a hint of the theatricality and humour of Italian cycling escaping at the seams, inevitably! Go here to order your XCR Criterium Racer.
